Warrior’s shawl (Jihussi)
- Männerkleid (Umhangtuch)
- India (Land); Nagaland (region); Ao-Naga (ethnic group)
- Ehlers, Otto Ehrenfried (Persons/Corporate bodies)
- 2nd half of 19th century
Only successful headhunters wore
shawls with stylised human figures.
The cowrie pattern resembles the chest
tattoos of the Chang-Naga. The shawl
may have been made by the Chang and
traded to the Ao.
