At the procession in Leißling in June 1936, one group dressed up as »Jews« and carried signs, such as »I have to leave Germany / because of racial defilement«. Their game alluded to the antiSemitic humiliations and disfranchisements in connection with the socalled Nuremberg Race Laws (September 1935). Another group in desert uniforms and white robes related to the annexation of the Abyssinian Empire (today Eritrea and Ethiopia) by fascist Italy (1935–1936). This gameplaying of both groups shows not only that antiSemitic persecution and imperial wars were focused on in provincial German towns. It also received applause, thereby having a community-building effect.
