This throne was made for King Njoya's father, Nsangu, who died fighting the Banso' kingdom. Njoya succeeded his father while still a child. The throne symbolised his right to rule. In 1908, after years of negotiation, he agreed to bring it to Governor Seitz as a gift for Kaiser Wilhelm II.
