A tea room especially for the Humboldt Forum. As a general rule, tea can be prepared in any place with a source of heat and water. With the development of the tea ceremony as a complex Gesamtkunstwerk (total work of art), particular rooms or houses, and often a surrounding garden, were designed expressly for this purpose. Their size varies from very intimate spaces, to the most common size of four and a half rice straw mats, up to spacious rooms for groups.
A team led by the architect jun Ura, active in Kanazawa, developed this tea room in close consultation with the Chad? Urasenke Teeweg-Verein Berlin. It unites architecture, art, craftsmanship, and design with traditional and contempary Japanese and European elements to form a harmonious space for an encounter of the senses.
