COMMENT BY ZUBENI LOTHA, CO-CURATOR OF THE EXHIBITION AND ARTIST FROM NAGALAND: The repetitiveness in the photographic subject strongly impresses upon the viewer the authenticity of the subject and their social realities. The selection of similar photos seeks to clarif y the emphasis the photographer has placed on the stereotype, thereby creating for the viewers a certain image of the Naga while ignoring all other individual aspects that may not seem interesting. The similarity of the two photographs regarding pose, costume and background strongly suggest the ideal Naga warrior in his natural surroundings as an everyday lived reality.
