Senghor welcomes Jahn’s suggestion for the anthology: “As you must be aware, it is a major concern for me to acquaint the whole world with black poetry. For this is surely the best way to contribute to the consolidation of peace through understanding and appreciation amongst peoples.” Senghor establishes the contact to Alioune Diop and Langston Hughes for Jahn and also draws Jahn’s attention to writers from Cuba, such as Nicolas Guillen, Enrique Serpa and Andrés Núñez Olano.
