Senghor requests the Ambassador in Dakar to support Jahn’s work: “In fact, this work [Jahn’s work] with its exclusive focus on the life of black Africans before the invasion by the Europeans, is not consistent with classical ethnology. After all, African culture is not a museum – or rather a living museum, from which black 20th century Africans have to create everything they need to represent and illustrate Négritude themselves.”
