“My mother-in-law had this headscarf
woven and embroidered in Turkey for her future
daughter-in-law. She showed it to me the fi rst
time I visited her. It’s very valuable, and should
only be worn on special occasions. I didn’t
want to take it, it smelled like insecticides. She
brought it to me later, but thought I wouldn’t
take good care of it. The two of us agreed that it
would fi nd a good home in the museum.
