Emailleschild "Öffentlicher Fernsprecher"

This official sign was used by the Deutsche Reichspost to designate public telephones. It dates from the 1930s, when the palace was accessible to the public at large. In a building comprising over a thousand rooms, signs such as this showed tenants and visitors where they could make telephone calls.
