The e stands for enhanced, which means, that several more features have built in. Two floppy disk drives: one for the operating system and applications; the other for use’s data, it appears on the screen as the ‘open’ or ‘closed’ button. With this type of devices Apple began the development of computers for the low cost market segment (initial price of this model was ,395). It had already got a German keyboard. Programming language was Apple-Pascal.
The computer was used at Humboldt-Gymnasium, Karlsruhe in mathematics and statistics education and given to the museum by Stefan Heck, a teacher of mathematics at Humboldt-Gymnasium.In 1982 the primary version of XploRe with the graphical user interface was developed by W. Härdle on a computer of the similar type in USCD-Pascal. The program could identify outliers in smooth non-parametric regression models. It played a sound when an outlier was detected.
