Victorious
The ram's head was part of the depiction of a battering ram – a weapon of siege warfare used to break down gates. Battering rams, breastplates, shields, bows and arrows, cannons and other weapons frequently featured as decorative elements of the palace facade. Weapons captured from an opposing army had been used as symbols of victory since ancient times. The Prussian king put them on public display to prove his prowess as a military leader and peacemaker.
