Fragment of a genius on the Eosanderportal of the Humboldt Forum
- Object
- Place of origin: Berlin (City)
- c. 1710
On the gateway on the other side, two winged female figures can be seen presenting a banderole glorifying the Prussian King Friedrich I. Only the dark section of the figure on the left dates from Friedrich's time. It was created during the expansion of the palace under Johann Friedrich Eosander between 1706 and 1713. At that time, the genii overlooked the Großer Schlosshof (large palace courtyard), which can be identified on the painting by Eduard Gaertner. Today, most of the area has been built over and is covered by a roof. The Baroque gate is a reconstruction and forms one of the main entrances to the foyer of the Humboldt Forum.
