Frank Arndt, chief heating engineer, recalls: "We competed for the title Collective of Socialist Work. Its motto was Socialist working, learning and living. Everything we did in connection with this contest was documented in the brigade journal. We also used it to record our leisure activities together: a bowling evening and a mushroom rally, where 20 or 25 of us drove into the forest."
